Jack L. Tweedy

Jack L. Tweedy, 67, of Lavaca, Ark., formerly of Keosauqua, Douds and Des Moines, died at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2002, of cancer at St. Edward's Mercy Medical Center in Fort Smith, Ark.

The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Bill Shewmaker officiating. Burial will be in Mount Moriah Cemetery, north of Douds.

Open visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the family present from 7-8 p.m. Memorials may be made to Mount Moriah Cemetery and may be left at the funeral home or memorial to the family at 904 Village Drive, Lavaca, Ark. 72941/

Mr. Tweedy was born April 5, 1935, the son of Harold and Mae Lawson Tweedy in Leando. He married Barbara Joan Breen September 1951, Carole Wilson December 1968, and Dorothy Aylor in Mulberry, Ark., September 1998.

He attended Keosauqua and Fort Madison schools. He was a self-employed salesman and lived in Carlisle and Des Moines from 1968-1999, when they moved to Lavaca. He enjoyed traveling, riding motorcycles, fishing and boating.

Survivors include his wife Dorothy of Lavaca; two sons, Randal L. Tweedy of Des Moines and Tim Tweedy of Minneapolis, Minn.; seven daughters, Linda Jo Woodcock of Oroville, Calif., Joyce McNamara, Sheila Madden and Tonis Sue Murray, all of Riverside, Calif., Wendy Duarte of Oceanside, Calif., Diane L. Veik of Perris, Calif., and Kim Tweedy of Des Moines; two stepchildren, Steven Aylor of Mountain Home, Idaho, and Teresa Silver of Naperville, Ill.; 19 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; one brother, Don Tweedy of San Antonio, Texas; and three sisters, Mary Lou Dickey of Des Moines, Susan Vogl of Peoria, Ill., and Pat Hemmie of Fort Madison.

His parents and his sister Peggy Washam preceded him in death.
