In Memoriam
CALLED HOME - Wednesday evening June 2_th, after a long and wasting illness of about six months, SALLIE, youngest daughter of Francis and Mary Lane, in the twentieth year of her age.
She is gone! Gone in the spring time of life, in the bloom of youth, and as it were, in the first rosy flesh of morning. Passed from the sin of this world to that illuminated world above. As we stood and gazed for the last time, upon the features of her we loved so well , we could scarcely realize that she was no more; that those dark eyes would not open the pale lips part with a smile of pleased recognition, as they had been wont to do so many long, weary _____.
Sad it ____ that one so young, so ___ _____ _____, whose life _____ as short and bright as a summer day, and as sweet as the song of the birds, she loved so well, has past from earth away; but consumption fed upon her vitals and death marked her for his own. "Not dead but _le_pe_," it seems forever in our minds as we think of her as she lay there, as pure and innocent as the ____ers loving hands had placed about her.
While we mourn with those who mourn, we should rejoice with her who rejoiced, when she found she must die. A better, truer or nobler testimony, that she now dwells on high was never left to be recorded; gladly she said would she leave relatives and friends to dwell on high, in that home so bright and fair.
We have lain her to rest in the tomb, besides her three little brothers, whose white monuments pointing heavenward, seemed only showing the way.
She leaves a father, mother, a brother and one sister, besides numerous other relatives and friends to mourn her departure. She will be sadly missed.
We shall ____her among the flowers,
For it was there she strayed,
We shall miss her more in the a_t__n,
When the flowers have all ________.We shall miss her at the fireside,
And in the place of prayer;
We shall miss her oh how sadly,
For she was always there. We shall ____ to hear her footsteps,
Tripping lightly o'er the green,
(Then you) _____ _____ her welcome,
___ no loving ____ seen.We shall hear her rippling laughter,
Ringing through the open door.
Then with suddened hearts remember,
That our darling is no more.We shall miss her very sadly,
But we knew we should not weep,
For he said t___ Jesus loved her,
And He her soul to keep.**Copy is poor. Transcribed as this volunteer deciphers.**
