MILLER BROTHERS KILLED IN ACCIDENT NEAR PELLA

Double funeral services for brothers Donald Gene Miller, 24, of Richland and Charles Ray Miller, 20 of Redfield were held in the Keosauqua United Methodist Church at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15.

The men, former Keosauqua residents, were passengers in a car driven by another brother, Allen Miller, 26, of Redfield when it collided headon with a semi-trailer truck Saturday near Pella.

Allen Miller is listed in serious condition at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines.

Pella police said the Miller car was westbound on Iowa Highway 163, one and one-half miles north of Pella when it crossed the median strip and collided with a truck driven by Nicholas DeRitter, 55, of Pella. He was not injured seriously.

They were the sons of Leo and Anna Elizabeth Cole Miller of Ottumwa. Donald Gene was born Nov. 8, 1948 in Ottumwa. He was married Feb. 11, 1971 to Mary E. Stone in Agency. He was a carpenter and worked for the Hanson Construction Co. of Indianola. He has served four years with the U.S. Army and spent 18 months in Viet Nam. He is survived by his widow; a son, Joseph Brian; three daughters, Jean Anne, Dawn Lee and Robin Lynn.

Charles Ray Miller was born January 24, 1952 in Ottumwa. He married Vickie McKin on June 25, 1971 in Ottumwa. He was a bridge construction worker for the Herberger Construction Co. of Indianola and a member of Union Local 566 in Ottumwa. He is surived by his widow and a son, Melvin Leroy II.

Both men are survived by their parents; three brothers, Jack and Harold, and a sister, Betty, all at home. A brother and sister preceded them in death.

The Rev. Lloyd Wright of Ottumwa conducted the funeral service, with burial in the rural Bethel Cemetery. Catcott Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
