Donald T. Shelman

Donald T. Shelman, son of Otto R. and Birdie Teeder(Teeter) Shelman, was born July 27, 1914 in Jefferson County and departed this life the evening of Sunday, November 15, 1987 at University Hospital in Iowa City at the age of 73.

He lived most of his life in the Hillsboro community, attended the University of Kansas, and served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a farmer and carpenter, and a member of the Hillsboro Baptist Chutch and Richard Hoaglin Post No. 610, American Legion.

On August 3, 1958 Don was united in marriage with Ruth Cummings in Bonaparte.

Surviving are his wife, a sister, Louise Hott, Cedar Falls, nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. His parents, his stepmother, and a brother, Curtis, preceded him in death.

The body has been cremated.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 21, 1987 at 2 p.m. in the Hillsboro Baptist Church with Rev. Ed Newman officiating. Private committal services will be held in Vale Cemetery north of Bonaparte.

The family will receive friends at home Friday evening. A memorial has been established. Arrangements are in charge of Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua.

Shelman rites at Hillsboro

HILLSBORO - Donald T. Shelman, 73, Hillsboro, died at 11:15 p.m. Sunday at University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City.

The body was cremated. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hillsboro Baptist Church with the Rev. Ed Newman officiating. A private commital service will be held at vale Cemetery north of Bonaparte. The family will recieve friends Friday evening at their home. A memorial has been established. Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua is in charge of arrangements.
