Brian Benge

Brian L. Benge, 34, of Douds, died unexpectedly at his home Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Christ United Methodist Church in Douds with the Rev. Connie Markle officiating. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery near Douds.

Open visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Monday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds with the family present from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

A memorial has been established to Christ United Methodist Church.

Mr. Benge was born Oct. 6, 1967, in Ottumwa, the son of Lawrence "Shorty" and Beverly Jean (Bonnett) Benge. He married Rebecca Marshall June 26, 1996. They were later divorced.

He grew up in the Douds area and graduated from Van Buren Community Schools in 1987. He graduated from Indian Hills Community College in 1989 with an associates' degree and from Central College in Pella in 1991 with a BA in business management.

He lived in Des Moines and worked for Iowa Student Loan Liquidity Corp. for seven years before returning to Douds in 1998.

He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his parents, of Douds; and two sisters, Brenda Hanson of O'Fallon, Mo., and Lesa Fitzpatrick of Mount Pleasant.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
