Death of Mrs. Susie Iowa Filson
MRS. SUSIE IOWA FILSON, the daughter of C. D. and Iowa Bailey, was born September 17, 1891, near Birmingham, Iowa. She spent her early life near her birthplace. During the autumn of 1909, under the administration of Rev. Nash, she accepted Christ as her personal Savior, and united with the Presbyterian church at Cedar Chapel, and remained a faithful member of that denomination until death.
She was united in holy wedlock in May 28, 1913, to Mr. Earl M. Filson. In October, 1913, she and her husband moved to Birmingham, where they have resided ever since. Her mother and three brothers have preceded her to eternity, and there remain to mourn her early departure, her loving husband, kind father, six brothers and two sisters, all of whom were present with the exception of Mrs. Frank L. Droz of Rockhill, Mo. In addition to these, a large circle of friends.
For more than a year Mrs. Filson had been an intense sufferer, which she bore patiently. She surely was acquainted with suffering and familiar with pain. Death relieved her Match 2, 1915, at the age of 23 years, 5 months and 15 days.
Her sorrowing husband, grief stricken relatives take this opportunity to express their sincere gratitude for the words of sympathy and acts of kindness shown at this season of bereavement.
Funeral services in charge of Rev. Bock, assisted by Rev. Lambert, were held in the Presbyterian church, Thursday at 2 p.m. in the presence of a large congregation of relatives and friends, and burial was in the Smith cemetery east of town.
