Obituary of Mrs. J. M. Forgrave

Adelia Jane Ward was born December 21, 1845, at Farmington, Iowa; she died August 26, 1921, at her home in Farmington, age 75 years, 8 months and 4 days. In 1866 she was united in marriage to James Madison Forgrave. This union was blessed with eight children, five girls and three boys. Two of the boys died in childhood. Mr. Forgave preceded his wife to the great beyond 18 years ago. She leaves the following children to mourn her departure: Mrs. Grace Beeson, of Des Moines, Iowa; Mrs. Ada Bowers, of Enid, Okla.; Mrs. Anna Prunty, Mrs. Bertha Jensen, Mrs. Jessie Fray and Mr. J. S. Forgrave, all of Farmington, Iowa. Her other relatives consist of seven grandsons, nine granddaughters and three brothers who live out west, besides a number of distant relatives and a host of neighbors and friends who knew her and loved her. Mrs. Forgrave had been a faithful member of the Christian church of Farmington since girlhood, a church worker as long as health permitted and a christian to the end. Her life has been a beautiful one. She always possessed a spirit of willingness to be of service, and a strong desire to continually sacrifice for others. She was a great lover of home and a builder of that sacred institution. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Congregational church, Rev. Paul Jackson, pastor of that church, officiating, assisted by Rev. G. H. Smith of the Methodist Episcopal church. Interment was made in Alfrey cemetery.
