CUMMINGS.
Alexander Cummings was born in Ireland, May 20, 1823. He came to America in his youth, and lived in Philadelphia, Pa., until 1851, when he came to Iowa. In 1852 he went to California, but returned to Iowa in 1853. He was married July 23, 1854, to Miss Harriet Corwin. There were five sons and two daughters born to this union. Mrs. Cummings died June 8, 1891. Last Tuesday Mr. Cummings was prostrated by the heat, and died Saturday morning, July 27, 1901, aged seventy-eight years, two months and seven days.
Rev. W. R. Rolingson conducted the funeral services, which were held Sunday, July 28th at 2:00 P. M.
He leaves six children, seventeen grandchildren, and two great-grand children to mourn his decease.
Mr. Cummings was one of the first citizens of this community.
