Goldie V. Davis, 92, of Lebanon, Iowa, died at 8:53 a.m. Feb. 2, 2000, at the home of her daughter, Betty Leafgreen near Fairfield.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua with the Rev. John Cooper officiating. Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery. Open visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with family present from 7-8 p.m. Memorials to Lebanon Cemetery may be at the funeral home.
Mrs. Davis was born March 25, 1907, in Virginia, Ill., the daugther of David and Letha Showalter Barbee. She married Carl A. Davis Oct. 17, 1925, in Virginia, Ill. He died Nov. 2, 1985.
Mrs. Davis and her husband moved to Lee County in Iowa in 1929 and to Van Buren County in 1941. She was a farm homemaker, operated nursing homes in Bonaparte and Keosauqua and worked as a nurses's aide at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua and Parkview Care Center in Fairfield. She lived many years in the Lebanon community.
Survivors include three sons, Albert Davis of Murray, Arthur Davis of Douds and Richard Davis of Hillsboro; two daughters, Donna Brown of Lebanon and Betty Leafgreen of Fairfield; 23 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Leota Duniworth of Copper Cove, Texas, Beulah Reinier of Ottumwa and Nettie Maka of Missouri.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Charles and Russell Davis, one daughter, Charledean Jakubowski; two great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Oscar and Shelton Barbee.
