Raymond A. 'Gus' Johnson

DOUDS - The service for Raymond A. "Gus" Johnson, 57, of Douds, who died at 4:17 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, 1994, in the emergency room of Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Eldon Congregational Church with the Rev. David Albert officiating. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery east of Douds. Open visitation will begin at noon Friday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds with the family present from 7 to 8 that night. Memorials to his church or Zion Lutheran Cemetery may be left at the funeral home.

Johnson was born April 22, 1936, near Keosauqua, the son of Carl and Hazel Meeker Johnson. He graduated from Douds High School and served in the Army Reserve. He married Dottie Nedrow. They were divorced. On Nov. 22, 1989, he married Bonnie Martin Graham in Eldon. He farmed near Douds, drove a milk truck, had been employed by Rockwell International and John Deere, was currently a Pinkerton Security Guard at Rockwell in Fairfield and a substitute bus driver for Van Buren Community Schools.

Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Cathy Humble of Ottumwa; a son, Kenneth of Douds; a stepson, Roger Graham of Hedrick; a grandson; five stepgrandsons; his mother, Hazel Knecht of Keosauqua; a sister, Ruth Taube of North Canton, Ohio; a half-sister, Helen Lightwine in Florida; three stepsisters, Dixie Gates of Douds, Donna Taube of Sanford, Fla., and Doris Kisling of Keosauqua. His father, his stepfather, Kenneth Knecht, a stepdaughter, Linda Doud, and a half-sister, June Johnson, preceded him in death.
