June McChord rite Thursday

STOCKPORT - June McChord, 87, Stockport, died at 12:50 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, 1988, at Jefferson County Hospital.

A service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Butt officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home starting at 5 p.m. today. A service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Werness Brothers Chapel in Minneapolis with the Rev. Verda Aegerter officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Cemetery at Minneapolis.

Miss McChord was born June 1, 1901, in Lee County, the daughter of E. Sherman and Margaret Baugher McChord. She moved to Stockport as a young girl, graduated from University of Iowa and taught school at Stuart before going to San Francisco, where she began a career as a dietician. She also worked in Washington, D.C., and Green Bay, Wis. In the early 1930s, she went to Minneapolis, where she and a lifelong friend, Mary Helen Kahn, operated a tea room for several years. Later she went back to work as a dietician in the St. Barnabas Hospital before retiring. She worked as a volunteer at Veterans Hospital in Minneapolis.

Surviving are six cousins, Dale Clark of Stockport, Faye Wolf of West Liberty, Marjorie Calhoun of Geneseo, Ill., Virginia Williams of Danville, Helen Cleland of Mediapolis and Frances Loughran of Iowa City.
