LAVINA MAY SNYDER

Lavina May was the last surviving of seven children of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Stephenson. She was born on Oct. 9, 1870 in Fairfield, Iowa, and passed away at Jefferson county hospital in Fairfield on Monday evening June 7, 1943. Near 73 years of age all of her life was spent in Jefferson county.

She was married to Harry H. Snyder on March 14, 1894, and four children were born to this union. One son, Fred H. preceded his mother in death in 1940. The surviving loved ones are Simon D. of Fairfield; Robert D. of Birmingham and Frank H. who is a Mo. M. M. 2-c in the U. S. navy and stationed at the amphibian training Base at Little Creek, Va. Besides these there are three grandchildren and a number of near relatives and friends.

Mrs. Snyder was a member of the Methodist church of Fairfield and found her chief interests in her home and church. In her usual health until Saturday night when she was stricken, she was taken to Jefferson county hospital on Sunday evening where everything possible was done for her but to no avail. She passed away at 7 o’clock on Monday evening.

Funeral services were held from the Weston Behner funeral home in Fairfield on Thursday afternoon conducted by Rev. S. P. Williamson, minister of the First Christian church. The remains were interred in the family lot in the Fairfield city cemetery.
