MRS. EZRA J. WILLIAMS
Esther Bonnett, daughter of Henry and Rose Bonnett, passed away at her home three miles northeast of Birmingham, Iowa, at the age of 60 years, 5 months and 7 days.
She was born July 9, 1882, in the same home where she passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 1942. She had been in failing health for the past few years.
She was preceded in death by her father, mother and one sister Henrietta.
She was graduated with the highest honors from Birmingham high school with the class of 1900 and attended the Iowa Wesleyan college at Mt. Pleasant. She was a successful teacher in the Van Buren county schools for three years.
Esther Bonnett was united in marriage with Ezra J. Williams on March 14, 1907. She is survived by her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Rose Unkrich of Birmingham and Mrs. Esther Arthur of Randalia, Iowa, also by one sister, Miss Blythe Bonnett of Davenport, Iowa and three grandchildren.
Mrs. Williams had been a member of the Birmingham Methodist church since childhood. She was also a member of the East Union Ladies Aid, the Bonnett P. T. A. and the Missionary society.
Mrs. Williams was devoted to her home and family and one of her greatest pleasures in life was flowers. Her favorite scripture lesson was “Come Unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.” One of her favorite poems was Tennyson’s “Crossing The Bar.”
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon in the Methodist church conducted by the pastor, Rev. R. T. Richards. Interment was in Maple Hill cemetery.
