The funeral service for Miss Veva Simpson, who died at her home in Abingdon, Del., Wednesday, was held from the Methodist Episcopal church in Selma, Friday afternoon. The Rev. C. R. Rowe of Chillicothe, a former pastor, conducted the services, he was assisted by the local minister, the Rev. P. O. Cline. A double quartet composed of Miss Lutie Simmons, Mrs. C. C. Carol, Mrs. Ralph Lepper, Mrs. A. J. Hayden, D. C. Nicklin, C. E. Nicklin, Harold Stearns and Kenneth Copeland with Mrs. Ed Dooley at the piano, sang three selections. Among those from a distance that attended the services were Mrs. M. T. Harlan and daughter, Mrs. S. H. Scott of Des Moines., Mrs. Justin Harlan and Mrs. C. A. Ruble and daughter Thelma of Valley Junction, Mr. and Mrs. Ora Baker and daughter Hilton, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Anderson, Miss Louise Riggs, and Vern Stump of Eldon, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Hopp, Miss Ruth Lasley, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Davis of Ottumwa, __?__ Nelson, Mr. and Mrs. __?__ Riggs and sons, John, Robert and Ernest Baker of Fairfield, Mrs. John Bingham, Mrs. P. M. __?__ and daughter, Mrs. Claude __?__, Mrs. Ernest Greenfield and daughter, Helen of Douds, Mrs. Mary Bonnett, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Anderson, Mrs. Ralph Jamison, Mrs. D. A. Miller, Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Nelson and family of Birmingham, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Poole and daughter, Margaret of Keosauqua.
