Nettie Xenia Nelson

Nettie Xenia Nelson was born in Pierceville, Van Buren county, Iowa, April 2, 1862, and passed away at the home of her sister, Mrs. Mary L. Skinner Jan. 11, 1941. In the fall of 1865 she came with her parents and brother to Birmingham, where she has lived continuously ever since except one year in California in 1874.

In the declining years of her father and mother she was their faithful attendant and chose to live on in the old home after they were gone. She was taken ill in October, 1937, and since has been cared for by her sisters, Mrs. Mary Skinner and Mrs. Minnie Adams. Of a family of seven, two infant sisters and her brother Audley, preceded her in death. Her brother, Meldon W. Nelson of Birmingham, and sisters, Minnie A. Adams of Selma and Mary L. Skinner of Cedar Rapids, with several nieces and nephews survive her.

Funeral services were held at the Catcott funeral home in Birmingham Monday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock, conducted by Rev. Irvine, pastor _____the rest has been cut off______.
