Frances Nelson rite Saturday

BIRMINGHAM-Frances Ruth Nelson, 87, former Birmingham resident, died at 8 a.m. Thurday, July 21, 1988, at the Fort Madison Hospital.

The service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Birmingham Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Charles McCracken and the Rev. Marvin Potter officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 tonight at the Burch-Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham. Memorials to her church may be left at the funeral home.

Mrs. Nelson was born Aug. 8, 1900, in Libertyville, the daughter of Francis and Anna Hibbord Clarridge. She attended Parsons College and taught school for several years before marrying Seth William Nelson May 30, 1926, in Fairfield. He died Dec. 25, 1953. She was a member of Birmingham Presbyterian Church and Haney-Brannon American Legion Auxiliary.

Surviving are two daughters, Shirley Dingus of Keosauqua; Mary Anna Nelson of Fort Madison; a son, Donald R. of Keosauqua; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and a brother, Mace Clarridge of Birmingham.
