Death Takes Brandt, 61

BIRMINGHAM - Merwyn A. (Tob) Brandt, 61, died in his sleep early Sunday at the home of his brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Harley F. Shipley, southwest of Birmingham. He made his home with the Shipleys and had not been ill.

The funeral will be Tuesday April 5 at 2 p.m., at the Pedrick Funeral home in Douds with the Rev. Walter Shuka officiating. Interment will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery near Douds. A memorial has been established for the Heart Fund and may be left at the funeral home.

The son of William H. and Mary Spurlock Brandt, he was born Jan. 27, 1916, near Fairfield. As a child he moved with his family to Shelbina, Mo. where he lived until 1953. Since then he had made his home with the Shipleys.

He was a carpenter and had been employed the past 10 years at Fairfield Lumber Company.

Brandt was a member of the Methodist Church in Shelbina, Mo., and served with the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II.

Surviving in addition to Mrs. Shipley is another sister, Dorothy Pogue of Shelbina, Mo., and several nieces and nephews.
