BIRMINGHAM - Ruth Orris, 84, of Birmingham, died at 7:22 a.m. today, April 12, 1994, at Jefferson County Hospital.

The service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Zion Bible Church in Douds with the Rev. Michael Mosier officiating. Burial will be in Batavia Cemetery in Batavia. Family visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Burch-Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham. Memorials to Zion Bible Church may be left at the funeral home.

Mrs. Orris was born Feb. 8, 1910, near Batavia, the daughter of Rawley and Nellie Copeland Skirvin. She married Erald Orris Oct. 6, 1935, at the Methodist parsonage in Fairfield. He died May __, 1976. She worked at Dexter in Fairfield during the war, then at Universal in Fairfield. She and her husband farmed southwest of Lockridge. She was a member of Zion Bible Church and attended the Bethesda Church.

Surviving are three brothers: Leonard "Jiggs" Skirvin of Fairfield, John Darrel of Waring, Texas, Mervin Skirving of Birmingham, nieces and nephew. Two brothers, James "Pat" and Edwin "Bill" Skirvin and one sister, ____ Skirvin, preceded her in death.
