Mildred Eliza McCarty, age 80, died Saturday, Feb. 6 at the University Hospitals in Iowa City. She was born August 23, 1907 in Mt. Sterling to William Cochran and Prudence Stansbury Cochran.
On March 10, 1928 she married Francis McCarty in Birmingham.
She was a school teacher, homemaker and worked for the Iowa Ammunition Plant.
She was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are her husband Francis, four daughters, Verna Marmion of Burlington, Marjorie Coleman of Hillsboro, Margaret Fett of Argyle and Patricia Parish of Osceola, Iowa; one son, Robert of Donnellson, one sister, Nadine Cochran of Ft. Madison, 22 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Monday, Feb. 8 at 10 a.m. at the Lunning Chapel, Rev. Richard Gilbert officiating. Burial was in the Blackledge Cemetery, RR, Mt. Sterling.
A memorial has been established.
