PIONEER M. E. PASTOR DIESMt. Pleasant, July 7 --- The Rev. Thomas Pool, one of the pioneer ministers in the Methodist Episcopal church, died at 6 o’clock Friday evening at his home on East Broad street.
The Rev. Mr. Pool was 80 years old and was one of the best known members of the Iowa conference, with a service record of many years that were begun as a circuit rider in the early days. For a number of years her served the Iowa conference as treasurer and had been the pastor of a great many churches throughout southeastern Iowa.
Surviving are the following children: the Rev. John W. Pool of Bloomfield, the Rev. Robert Pool of Kingfisher, Okla., Mrs. M. L. Poulter of Mt. Pleasant and Miss Lydia Pool, formerly a mission worker in India, who returned to this country two years ago to care for her father after the death of a daughter, Mrs. George Johnson, who had made a home for him. His wife preceded him in death many years ago. Funeral arrangements have not yet been completed.
