GLENN LEE SMITHBURG

Glenn Lee Smithburg, age 18, son of Virgil and Roberta Campbell Smithburg, was born Sept. 14, 1951 in Keosauqua, and died at University Hospitals in Iowa City at 11:10 p.m. Monday, April 27, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident Sunday, April 26, near Cantril.

A graduate of Fox Valley Community High School, he was a freshman at Centerville Community College. When a child, he was baptized in the Grace Baptist Church of Milton. He had been an active participant in the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts as long as there was a local troop. Sporting activities of nearly every variety were of interest to him.

He was preceded in death by three grandparents, one was Glenn Campbell for whom he was named.

Survivors include his parents; two brothers, Gene Robert (Bob), who is with the Border Patrol at Imperial, Calif. and Wayne at home; a sister, Barbara, also at home; a grandmother, Mrs. Leota Campbell Zoucha of Fall City, Nebr.; a great-grandmother, Mrs. Minnie Wintersteen of Mt. Home, Idaho; one nephew; several cousins, aunts and uncles; other relatives and many friends.

Services were held Thursday, April 30, at 2 p.m. in the Grace United Methodist Church in Milton with Rev. Herbert E. Phillips, assited by Rev. Ben Sinderson of Vinton, Ia., a great-uncle of the deceased, officiating. Interment was in Sunnyside Cemetery.
