Mrs. Anna Virginia Saylor, daughter of Joseph and Sarah Crandall Pruitt, was born on February 20, 1892, at Lewistown, Mo., and departed this life Friday, Oct. 2, at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua at the age of 78.
On January 10, 1912, she was married to George Saylor at Keosauqua. They farmed in Van Buren and Davis Counties, and lived for a time in Troy. Most of their married life was spent in the Valley community between Troy and Douds. Mr. Saylor preceded her in death in 1963. Also preceding her in death were infant twin sons, a brother and a sister.
Remaining to mourn her passing are: a son, Ronald Saylor of Blakesburg; two daughters, Mrs. Marguerite Luke of Douds and Mrs. Irma Zeitler of Milton; three sisters, Mrs. Viola Strait of Milton, Mrs. Rilla Lemmons and Mrs. Maggie Scott, both of Ottumwa; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral servies (sic: services) were held on Monday, Oct. 5, at 2 p.m. at the Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds with the Rev. Willis Grant, United Methodist Pastor, officiating. Interment was in the Troy Cemetery.
