Death of Mrs. Vactor Wilson

Mrs. Vactor Wilson, who home was at Milton, died at the home of her brother C. R. Chisman, near Ottumwa, on Friday, April 21, where she had gone for a visit. She was feeling comparatively well when she went to her brother’s but was stricken with pneumonia and passed away in four days, aged 53. The body was brought to Milton Saturday where funeral services were held on Sunday at the M. E. church. In charge of Rev. Latham Ingham, and the burial was at the Lebanon cemetery. She leaves a husband to mourn her loss, to whom the sympathy of many friends is extended. An obituary will appear next week.

OBITUARY

Zora Chisman was born in Bidwell, Ia. June 6, 1856, and died at the home of her brother, C. R. Chisman, of near Bidwell, April 1, 1910, aged 53 years, 7 months and 25 days. Her girlhood days were spent in Bidwell community. She was converted during a pastorate of Rev. J. B. Hill and united with the M. E. church at Christiansburg, Ia. She has always lived a faithful christian life. July 3rd 1894 she was united in marriage to Vactor Wilson, of near Milton, Van Buren Co., Ia., near and in which place that have since made their home. To this union was born one child, a daughter Mary, who died in infancy. About 10 days ago with her husband she went to Bidwell and community to visit relatives and friends, she took sick with pneumonia and only in bed 2 days and all that nurses could do was done yet the disease was fatal. She leaves to mourn, a kind and devoted husband, three brothers, Curtis, of South Ottumwa, C. R. and G. H. of Bidwell, and a large circle of relatives and friends. A short service at the home of C. R. Chisman, the brother, was conducted by Rev. C. E. Petit, pastor of the Christiansburg church after which the body was shipped from Ottumwa to Bloomfield and thence overland to Milton where the funeral was held Sunday 1 p.m. at the M. E. church, Rev. Tennant, of Cantril, preaching the sermon from Ps. 39-9, a select choir furnished the music with Miss Meroe Jackson the organ. The interment was in Lebanon cemetery beside the little babe. Mrs. Wilson was a member of the Lebanon M. E. church at the time of her death. “She lives in deeds of love in memory’s casket.”
