Thursday, 12 May 1983Rites set for O. Davisson
Services for Orville G. Davisson, 80, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Behner Funeral Home. The Rev. D. O. Van Dyne will officiate and burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery at Birmingham.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Davisson died at 4:25 a.m. Wednesday at the Sunrise Terrace Care Center in Winfield. He had been seriously ill the past two months.
He had lived all his life in Jefferson County and had worked 35 years for the Rock Island Railroad, before his retirement. His home address was Route 4, Fairfield.
Orville G. Davisson was born June 24, 1902 in Jefferson County. He was the son of Guy and Mary Ellen Pierson Davisson. His marriage to Opal M. Pool took place Dec. 21, 1927. She died Oct. 24, 1980.
Survivors include a daughter, Frances Lawrence, Mount Pleasant; a son, Verle Davisson, Fairfield; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and two sisters; Kathryn Overturf, Libertyville and Gladys Schimmelpfennig, Batavia.
In addition to his wife, Davisson was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
