JOHN M. TETER
John M. Teter was born in Monroe county, Illinois, on February 6th, 1851, and passed away at his home in Imperial, Nebraska, on October 31st, 1931; aged 80 years, 8 months and 25 days.
He made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Earl King the last two and one-half years.
He resided in Illinois two years then moved with his parents to the eastern part of Iowa, living there the major portion of his life, nearly sixty-two years. He then moved to Imperial, Nebraska.
He was united in marriage to Miss Matilda Huntley in 1872, at Kahoka, Missouri. To this union seven children were born; five girls and two boys. Four of the children died in infancy.
He was a good, faithful husband and father, and will not only be missed in the home, but in this community as well.
He leaves to mourn his departure his bereaved wife, who is very poorly in health and three daughters, Mrs. Ed. Phillips, Mrs. Thomas Elrod, and Mrs. Earl King, all residing in Imperial. Also nine grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren, and a host of friends and neighbors.
His only brother, Hozias Teter, preceded him in death about ten months ago.
Funeral services were held from the Luhrs Memorial Chapel Sunday afternoon, November 1st. Rev. Henry F. Martens, pastor of the Methodist church of imperial officiating, after which the interment was made in the Mt. Hope cemetery.
His six grandsons acted as pallbearers: Jess Phillips, Grant Phillips, Clarence Phillips, John Phillips, Bud Phillips and Howard Smith. – Imperial, Neb., Newspaper.
