MRS. FRED MURPHY
Jalina Madison King, daughter of Henry and Margaret King, was born near Summerset, Mo., November 12, 1861, and passed from her earthly life at her home near Keosauqua, Iowa, on August 7, 1931, being 69 years, 8 months and 25 days of age.
On March 8, 1882, she was united in marriage to Fred Murphy, who, with the children, eighteen grandchildren and one great grandchild are left to mourn their loss of a loving wife mother and grandmother.
Mr. and Mrs. Murphy became the parents of five children. They are: Mrs. Lelah Buckett, of Keosauqua; Charlie, of Milton; Morris and Ohio, of Keosauqua, and Mrs. Iva Baird, of Wyaconda, Mo.
She leaves one brother, Ohio King, of Meridan, Idaho; one half brother, Jack Seaman, of Milton; two half-sisters, Mrs. Sophina Ellis, of Cantril, and Miss Nellie Seaman, of Chicago, Ill. One half brother, Morris King, and one half sister, Mrs. Anna Wooden, have preceded her in death.
Mrs. Murphy was a woman of true Christian character and faith. She was a member of the Christian church of Keosauqua and lived a true Christian life, always ready to help others. She was also a member of the Rebekah lodge.
It was her request that her six oldest grandsons be her pallbearers. They were Raymond, Dale, Leo, Lawrence and Kenneth Murphy and Fred Buckett.
Funeral services were held at the Christian church in Keosauqua, Sunday afternoon, at 2 o’clock, conducted by Rev. Wilson, and interment was in the Odd Fellows cemetery.
