Van Park, 46, Dies Suddenly
Van B. Park, 46, Batavia, died suddenly Sunday at 2:45 p.m. at Camp Wapello where he was serving as Boy Scout rifle instructor.
Death was believed caused by a heart attack. Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Campbell Funeral Chapel in Batavia in charge of the Rev. Kermit Black. Burial will be in Mt. Moriah Cemetery near Douds.
Park was born Nov. 16, 1918 at Douds, the son of John E. and Herma Hill Park. He retired from U. S. Army July 1, 1964 after 20 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict.
Park is survived by his mother, Mrs. Herma Park, Batavia; and the following brothers and sister: Don C. Park, Grattenger, Iowa; Brian R. Park, Rockford, Illinois; C. Larry Park, Batavia; and Mrs. Robert DeSpiegelaere, Batavia. His father and one brother preceded him in death.
Park was a member American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars of Fairfield and Amvets of Eldon.
