Lane E. Stansbery

Lane E. Stansbery, 56, of rural Bonaparte, died at 2 a.m. today at Van Buren County Hospital, Keosauqua, where he had been a patient for one week with a heart condition.

The son of Lane E. and Julia Dempsey Stansbery, he was born Aug. 19, 1922 in Fairfield. He grew up in Fairfield and Fort Madison where he gradauted from high school.

He served in the Marine Corps in World War II and was in the Air Force from 1955 to 1973 when he retired and moved to rural Bonaparte. He was currently employed as a correction officer at the Mount Pleasant Medium Security Unit.

On Feb. 2, 1946 he married Madolyn Price at Galesburg, Ill. She survives. Also surviving are a son, Michael, at home; a daughter, Jacquelyn; his mother of Fairfield and a brother, Darrell of Chesterfield, Mo.

He was a member of the American Legion and Lions Club at Bonaparte and the Air Force Sergeants Association.

Arrangements are pending at Pedrick Funeral home in Keosauqua.
