PASSING OF LESLIE RECK

Leslie Arthur Reck, only [sic-son] of George and Frances Teter Reck, was born at Upton, Iowa, Dec. 24, 1882, and passed from life to the eternal home on February 18, 1928, aged 45 years, 1 month and 26 days.

Having always resided at Upton, Leslie was known and loved alike by young and old throughout the community and these together with friends in surrounding towns anxious awaited each report from the sick room after it became known he was stricken with pneumonia. On the tenth day he succumbed to the disease. A young man of sterling business qualities, a splendid worker, an upright, honorable citizen, one who loved his earthly home has gone to his reward.

On January 15, 1908, he was united in marriage with Miss Ethel M. Abernathy by Rev. H. T. Gilbert, then pastor of Cantril M. E. church. The home, which these young people established was one of the happiest and most hospitable known.

Leslie was united with the Methodist church at Upton during his boyhood and remained a faithful member until the church was discontinued four years ago when his membership was transferred to Cantril Methodist Episcopal church where he was always found faithful at Sunday school and church whenever road and weather would permit.

He leaves beside his beloved wife and her mother, Mrs. Julia Abernathy, his aged father, Geo. Reck, two sisters, Mrs. Dee Robinson of Memphis, Mo., and Mrs. Raymond McNamer of Given, Iowa, also five nieces and nephews and one uncle, Simeon Teter of Cantril, besides a host of other relatives and friends.

The passing of Leslie Reck has left a gloom over the entire community.

Leslie was a member of No. 461 Apollo Lodge, Cantril, and Cantril Chapter 437 O. E. S.

The funeral services were held from the Methodist church at Cantril on Monday, February 20, at 2 P. M. Rev, H. F. Gilbert of Milton being assisted by Rev. A. M. Smith Cantril with the Masonic Fraternity closing. Interment was made in Maple Grove cemetery at Cantril.
