MRS. IAMBA PAXTON

Mrs. Iamba Paxton died at her home in Milton, Iowa Sunday October 25. She had a heart attack in the morning and passed away in the evening.

Mrs. Paxton was born, March 28, 1849, in Knox county, Illinois. She moved with her parents from Illinois to Texas and then from Texas to Iowa in 1860.

She was married to J. T. Paxton, deceased, March 18, 1874. They lived in Kansas until 1881, when they returned to Iowa. Five children were given to them; three have preceded her in death; twin boys, who died in infancy and Clifford, three years ago. Two daughters, Mrs. John Price and Mrs. B. M. Power of West Los Angeles, Calif., are left to honor her memory. Clarence Foster, her nephew, has always considered her as a mother, as her home has been his since he was two years old.

Having united with the Methodist church in girlhood, she later joined the Presbyterian to be with her husband. She loved the work of God and the service of the church. When she was able she worked with the guild, the missionary society and for years taught a class in the Sunday school. As mother, wife, neighbor and Christian she was all a woman could be. To know her was to love her. Sickness and misfortune of friends and neighbors always found her present and ready to minister and to cheer. Memory of her kindness will long be cherished by those who have benefited by them.

Her passing will be mourned by her two daughters and their families, seven grandchildren, two sisters, Rachel foster, who lived with her for many years, and Mrs. Mary Fate, of Glendale, California, a brother, W. H. Foster, of Clarence, Mo., and many nieces, nephews and friends. Like Martha she lived to serve.

Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian Church at two o’clock Wednesday, conducted by Rev. J. C. Caughlan. Interment was made in Sunnyside cemetery where she will rest by her husband.
