OBITUARY
Friends and relatives were saddened that the grim reaper, death, had entered the Carr home and taken J. W. Carr to his eternal home, Wednesday morning at 6:30, June 27, after a lingering illness of several months duration.
John W. Carr, the only son of T. J. and Catherine Carr, was born in Milton, Iowa, October 12, 1869. His mother passed away when he was but three years of age, after which he was cared for by his grandfather, Mr. McBride, until his father married again.
On the 21st day of October, 1891, he was married to Miss Rosa Cles. This union was blessed with three children, the youngest, Glen, passed away April 30, 1923. He leaves to mourn their loss his devoted wife, one daughter, Mrs. Katie Dellinger, of Powell, Wyoming, and one son, Warren of Milton, Iowa, and also three grandchildren, Junior and Dale Carr and Helen Dellinger. There are also three half brothers, George, Thomas and Wash, besides a host of relatives and friends in the vicinity of Milton where he spent his entire life.
He will be sadly missed, not only by the sorrowing relatives, but by the many neighbors, who always found him ready to help in time of need as his first thought was always for others.
A large company of relatives and friends assembled for the funeral services conducted by Rev. H. F. Gilbert, in the Methodist church, Milton Iowa, Friday at 2 p.m., June 29, 1928.
A quartette composed of Mr. Warren Sherwood, Mrs. H. F. Gilbert, J. E. Parr and A. J. Pinnell sang, “Saved by Grace,” “In the Garden” and “Satisfied.”
The following neighbors acted as pallbearers: Mr. Frank Clendenen, Mr. George Clendenen, Mrs. Helsie Harbin, Mr. M. E. Standard, Mr. Milo Abernathy and Mr. Estel Roby, and the remains were laid to rest in the Sunnyside cemetery at Milton, Iowa.
