Obituary of David A. Wilson

David A. Wilson was born in Andersonville, Franklin county, Indiana, Spet. 23rd, 1836, and died at his home in Birmingham, Friday, Sept. 4th, 1914.

October 20th, 1859, he was united in marriage at Greensburg, Ind., to Rebecca Kisling, who with four children are left to mourn the loss of a kind and indulgent husband and father.

In October, 1863, he moved to Iowa and settled on a farm in this township, southeast of Winchester, and since then Birmingham and this neighborhood have been their home.

Eleven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Wilson, seven of whom preceded him in death. Those living are M. A. of Yuma, Col., Geo. C. of Pulaski, Iowa, Mrs. Flora Smith of Cantril, Iowa, and Willis D. of Durant, Iowa, all of whom were present and assisted in his care during his short illness. Saturday, Aug. 29th he was taken sick with a stroke of apoplexy, which lasted lacking one day of two weeks, when he quietly passed away, and is now at rest in his heavenly home.

At the age of 18 years he professed conversion and united with the M. E. church, of which denomination he has been a continuous and faithful member until death relleyed his suffering.

Funeral services, in charge of Rev. McBlain, his former pastor, were held in the M. E. church, Monday, Sept. 7th, at 11 a. m., and the remains of Uncle Dave were laid to rest in Birmingham cemetery.
