Clauda Anna Merritt, daughter of H. S. and Jennie Merritt, was born near Onarga, Inquiois county, Illinois, March 20, 1880, and passed away at Aurora, Colorado, May 20, 1926, being 46 years, 2 months of age.

On February 12, 1902, she was married to David A. Brown, of Milton, Ia. To this union two children were born, Robert C. Brown, who survives, and an infant daughter, Edna, who preceded her mother in death. She leaves to mourn her departure beside her husband and son, six brothers, Bert of Washington, John of Milton, Henry of Wichita, Kan., Charley and George of Newton, Kan., Eugene of Memphis, Mo., and six sisters, Mrs. Carrie Rinn of Memphis, Mo., Mrs. Mae Smith of Eads, Colo., Mrs. Maud McGee of Memphis, Mo., Mrs. Nellie Eggleston of Memphis Mo., Mrs. Willa Terree, of Elmodena, Calif., Mrs. Dorothy Kerr of Cantril, Iowa.

Her early live was spent in Illinois. She united with the Congregational church in Illinois when a girl. Moving with her parents to a farm near Memphis, Mo., Feb. 18, 1889. She was a good church worker and was always ready to help others who were in need. She was good sister, a wise and loving mother and a most excellent wife. Her unfailing industry and good judgment made a true helpmeet. She will be sadly missed indeed.

The funeral was held from the Christian church in Milton Monday afternoon. May 24th, conducted by Rev. H.F. Gilbert.
