Mary E. Merrick, daughter of Geo and Antonette Merrick was born in the state of New York, November 11, 1847. When but a child she moved with her parents to Iowa, locating near Farmington. Later coming to Davis county living in the home of her aunt Mrs. Selah Washbune. It was while living in this home she was married to Isaac J. Wilson on July 4, 1855.

To this happy union were born three sons, Perry of Los Angeles; Darr of Dixon, Calif.; and Ralph of Kansas City, Mo. Their early married life was spent on a farm near Stringtown, Iowa. In 1874 they moved to Des Moines where she resided until the death of her husband which occurred March 11, 1907. Then she located at Allerton, Iowa, that she might be near her aged mother and help to care for her. And while living here the ravage of disease fastened upon her, and she was forced to give up home and went to the home of the youngest son at Kansas City, where for eight long years she has patiently and uncomplainingly awaited the summons “come home.” Death released her from her suffering April 18, 1926.

After the death of her husband she spent much of her time and strength in loving care and service to friends and loved ones.

She was a devoted member of the M. E. church, attending the public service as long as health would permit. When health failed she faithfully attended services by radio.

She was a devoted wife and indulgent mother. She leaves to mourn her passing, her three sons, two brothers, nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Short funeral services were held at the home of Retta Woodward Wednesday morning of last week, burial at Troy.
