John H. Detwiler, son of John and Cynthia Detwiler, was born November 3, 1832 near the city of Perryapolis, Fayette county, Pennsylvania. Died November 6, 1911, aged 78 years and 3 days.He moved with his parents to Ohio January 1852, and to Iowa in 1846 and to St. John, Kansas in 1886.
He was married to Cordelia H. McComb at Birmingham, Iowa, August 3, 1857. To this union were born five children, three of whom survive him, viz, William and Lucy, at home, and Mrs. Ella Prindle, of Greencastle, Missouri.
He leaves to mourn his loss, a wife, one son, two daughters, two sisters and a host of relatives and friends.
At the age of 16 he was converted and united with the Baptist church of which he had been a faithful and consistent member up to the time of his departure, serving a portion of the time as deacon of the church.
