Mrs. Mary Miller Wyer

Mrs. Mary Miller Wyer was born in Westmoreland county, Penn., October 1, 1833. She came to Iowa with her parents in 1854 and settled in Van Buren county. She was married to John Wyer November 15, 1855, and to them were born six children, four daughters and two sons, one girl dying in infancy.

She united with the Mt. Zion Baptist church before it was removed to Bonaparte in the winter of 1855 and lived a faithful and consistent member until her death.

She was a kind and affectionate wife, a mother ever faithful and thoughtful of those about her. Mrs. Wyer was a good and kind neighbor and will be sadly missed by her many friends.

She was seriously ill but a short time and died February 5, 1902 aged 68 years 4 months and 5 days. She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, three daughters, two sons, seven grandchildren, four sisters and four brothers.

Funeral services were held at the late home on Friday, Feb. 7, at 2 p.m. , interment in White cemetery, conducted by J. L. Ayrault. The home was filled with friends and neighbors who paid respect to the departed friend.
