Typhoid Was Fatal.
John Leuckel died at his home in Hamilton, Ill., early Friday morning after a short illness with typhoid. He was a locomotive engineer in the employ of the water power company and was regarded as one of the most competent men in their employ.
Until a few months ago he was an engineer for the Santa Fe railway company and made his home at Ft. Madison. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and was also a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose of Keokuk, being the first of that order to die since the lodge there was organized.
He leaves a wife and three children who have the sympathy of a host of friends. His wife is the youngest daughter of John McDaniel of Bonaparte, is a graduate of the school here and was once a teacher here.
Mr. Leuckel's former home was in Farmington where the funeral service was held Sunday afternoon under the direction of the B. of L. E.
