Florence E. Wilson, daughter of Lincoln and Eva Wilson, was born at their present home, two miles east of Milton, Iowa, the 19th of July in the year of our Lord 1892. Her death occurred Nov. 17, 1911, at the age of 19 years, 4 months and 2 days.

She leaves to mourn their loss, besides her father and mother, two brothers, Fern and Earl and three sisters, Gladys, Pearl and Fay.

Florence was a graduate of the Milton High School, in the class of 1910. Her school days were most happy and her sweet disposition and pleasing personality won her the friendship and love of her classmates.

She was desirous to fill her place in life and fill it well, she chose the profession of a teacher, attended the summer school and in the fall began teaching in the eureka District.

After closing her school in the spring, it was only a few weeks until she took the measles which settled on her lungs with other complications and since that time everything that medical aid and attention could do for her has been done.

It was an important event in Florence’s life, when but a girl of 12 years old she came to the alter of the M. E. Church under D. R. Martin’s pastorate and consecrated her young life, which has been His till then, but thus publicly and personally and intelligently she gave herself to the Master. Thus her life has always been christian. She lived in a spirit of devotion and prayer. Those who know her best tell us she lived nearly a perfect life as is ever known.

In my talk with her, as her pastor, she said she was ready to go, sometimes she wondered why she had to stay and suffer so long. She said she felt that her going would have a strong influence for good.

Parents, brothers and sisters, relatives and friends, who knew Florence and loved her, you will not disappoint her in this her last hope that her going home might make you think of the Heavenly home, might make you live for the home and life which is her’s today.

Just before eight o’clock she wanted all the family around her. Her thought was for them, she felt that this was going to bring sorrow into the hitherto happy family circle. The long patience that had born all so sweetly was at length rewarded; she slipped away from suffering to be at home with Jesus.

The funeral was held on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the M. E. church amidst a long concourse of friends and the sermon preached by her pastor. Many beautiful flowers covered the casket. The remains were laid to rest in Sunnyside cemetery.
