Grace C. LYON

Grace C. LYON, 89, of Ottumwa and formerly of Eldon died at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2000, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.

The funeral service will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Kremer Funeral Home in Eldon with the Rev. George Conz and David Albert officiating. Burial will be in Eldon Cemetery in Eldon. Open visitation began at noon today and the family will be present from 7-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Good Samaritan Care Center in Ottumwa or the Eldon Fire and Rescue Unit.

Mrs. LYON was born Feb. 6, 1911, in Hillsboro, the daughter of James and Ella CAMPBELL JOHNSON. She married Eugene LYON March 1, 1935, in Stockport. He died Feb. 24, 1977.

She was raised and educated in Van Buren County and lived her early adulthood in Stockport until moving to Eldon in 1952. She entered the Good Samaritan Care Center in Ottumwa in 1997. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Living Hope Bible Church in Eldon and Royal Neighbors of America.

Survivors include two sons, Howard LYON of Eldon and Tom LYON of Ottumwa; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandchild; four brothers, Leo, Lloyd, Robert and Howard; and four sisters, Neoma and Irene BRWON, Emogen HEATON and Alma ROSANDER.

(I am connected through the LYON lineage. My Grandmother Harriett LYON MECK, was Eugene's sister.)
