Oliver E. McNamer, son of Isaac and Rebecca McNamer, was born in Clark county, Missouri,on the 21st day of May. 1860, and departed this life at his home in Mt. Sterling, Iowa, November 9, 1936, at the age of 76 years, 5 months and 19 days.

In his early life he moved with his parents to Scotland county, remaining in this county until 1898, from thence he came to Mt. Sterling, where he lived until death.

He was united in marriage with Ellen Mattox in 1882, to which union was born one daughter Ella, who preceded her father in death, in 1908. Mrs. McNamer departed her life in 1883. He later was married to Mary Elizabeth Mattox in 1887. To this union eight children were born, three of whom died in infancy, also a daughter, Beulah, making her home in Denver, Colo., died in 1933, in the month of July.

In passing he leaves to mourn his departure, and afflicted companion, and four sons, Milton of Azen, Mo., Raymond of Garden City, Ia., Roscoe of Chicago, Ill., and Wesley of Keosauqua, Iowa, one sister, Effie, one nephew, Glen and 13 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

When a boy he became converted and united with the Mt. Moriah M.E. church, in which fellowship he remained until he moved to Mt. Sterling. He was a faithful member of the church. And active in its various departments of service in which he too great delight.

Funeral service was held in the church at Mt. Sterling, Rev. F. M. James in charge, assisted by Rev. W. Griffeth, November 11 at 2 p.m.
Burial was in the Mt. Moriah cemetery, near the church of his boyhood and early married life. He was a good man and will be missed.
