“I cannot say, and I will not say that he is dead- he is just away.
With a cheery smile and a wave of the hand
He has wandered into an unknown land,
And he left us dreaming how very fair
It needs must be, for he lingers there
And you -oh, you-who the wildest yearn
For the old-time step and the glad return-
Think of him as faring on, as dear, In the love of there, as the love of here.
Think of him still the same, I say; He is not dead- he is just away!”

Besides his active business and religious endeavors he was affiliated with the Masonic lodge, No 16, A. F. & A.M; Wapello White Shrine, No. 4; O.E. S. No. 112; Hafed Grotto, and Sons of Veterans.

To all music organizations of this city he gave unsparingly of his talents.
Remember God’s promises this hour.
Remember that he has not left us without a comforter.
Remember he has given us Jesus- that Great Spirit who has revealed to us more than anyone else the love of a father.
In the sorrow and trial and lonliness of this hour; let these infinite resources of faith and love and hope come to you.
Let them lift the burden from your hearts.
Every need can be met by the mercy and truth and kindness of the gospel.
Make it your own and this darkness shall be converted to light; this grief shall be turned into eternal joy. “
One thought I have my ample creed. ---------------
Oh blessed thought of God.”
