DEATH OF GRANDMOTHER WEATHERINGTON
At the age of ninety-three years, eleven months and twenty-one days, Grandmother Weatherington passed away at the home of her son, Oscar Weatherington, four miles northeast of Milton, Iowa, Her death removes a pioneer who has been in the community longer than anyone now living. She was well known to all the old settlers. She was devoted to her home and family and everything that was good. She has gone to join the pioneers whom she knew in life, the majority of whom have long since passed to the other side. Her memory and her gentleness of spirit remain as a heritage to her kindred.
Mary J. McQuoid was born in Fayette county, Indiana Sept. 23, 1929. She was the daughter of William and Nancy McQuoid. She was united in marriage to John Weatherington in 1856. To this union nine children were born. The husband and three sons and three daughters preceded her in death. There remains to mourn her departure, two daughters, Mrs. T. W. Carr, of San Miguel, Calif., Mrs. J. P. Wilson, 3 ¾ miles northeast of Milton, Iowa, and one son Oscar Weatherington who resides on the old home farm. Also one granddaughter, three grandsons and seven great grandchildren and other relatives and a host of friends.
The funeral was held from the home Sunday afternoon conducted by Rev. H. F. Gilbert, the remains being interred in the Lebanon cemetery
