Elmer Alexander Dies at Salem

Former Cantril Resident, 74,
Is Survived by Wife and 11 Children

Funeral services for Emery Alexander of Salem were conducted at the Cantril Methodist church at 11 o’clock Friday morning. Burial was at the Cantril cemetery. Mr. Alexander was 74 years old. He died at a doctor’s office in Salem Wednesday after he was found lying ill beside a road near Salem.

Mr. Alexander and his wife lived many years on a farm about six miles northeast of Cantril. Three years ago they moved to a farm near Fairfield and about a year ago to a farm about two miles east of Salem.

Surviving are Mrs. Alexander, the former Miss Gertie Cavitt, and 11 children, Mrs. Herbert Thomas of Milton, Wiley of Mt. Sterling, Mrs. John Scott of Keosauqua, Arthur of Wyaconda, Mo., Leonard of Geneseo, Ill., Mrs. Foster Brewer of Galeburg, Ill., Gene of Granger, Mo., Roy and Miss Mae of Salem and Neal of Davenport.
