Funeral for Miss Sylvia Bowles was conducted from a Keokuk funeral home Monday afternoon, Oct. 5. For several months she had been in failing health and for several weeks had been a patient at St. Joseph hospital at Keokuk where her death occurred Friday, Oct. 2. She was a native of Van Buren county and was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Riley Bowles, well known pioneers of the Flat Rock community near here. She was born Feb. 17, 1908, and was at the time of her death 23 years of age. She had lived at Keokuk for the past several years. Her father and two sisters have preceded her in death. Those left to mourn are the mother, Mrs. Chas. Simpson of Keokuk, three brothers and two sisters and several more distant relatives and a host of friends. Burial took place in Keokuk.
