Isaac Jacob Hogan.

Isaac Jacob Hogan was born in St. Louis, Mo., July 25, 1843, and died at his home in Bonaparte, Iowa, March 23, being sixty-four years, eight months and twenty-eight days old.

He was married in 1868 to Mary Ann Brown in Clark County, Missouri. To this union six children were born, three girls and three boys, Laura, Clarence, Walter, Mrs. Nellie Vance, Lizzie, and John. Walter Hogan resides in Farmington, and Lizzie Hogan resides in Keokuk, the rest reside in the vicinity of Bonaparte.

Mrs. Hogan and all of these children, besides three grandchildren, still survive their husband and father.

Mr. Hogan came from Missouri to Bonaparte twenty-five years ago the first of next month, where he has since resided.

He was a Union soldier in the war of the rebellion, having enlisted in Company H, 69th Reg. Missouri Volunteers, and was a member of the Elias Ware Post G. A. R.

The funeral services were conducted today (Tuesday) at two o'clock from the late residence. The sermon was preached by Rev. Geo. H. Kemp, of the M. E. Church, and the burial at the Bonaparte cemetery was in charge of comrades of the G. A. R.

Mr. Hogan was a well known citizen of our city, and besides being an old soldier, has been recognized as one of our old citizens. Thus it is that the pioneers pass away, one by one, with the passing of the old landmarks of a generation ago; and thus do those who, in the days of conflict, answered their country's call, now hear the sound of the last reveille; thus the ranks of the old comrades and growing thin. There will be another form beneath the sod, another mound above which we will stew the flowers of loving memory and patriotic gratitude.
