William Ebenezer Corwin

William Ebenezer Corwin was born in Farmington, Iowa, April 18, 1844, and died in Marshalltown, Iowa, Nov. 6, 1905. He spent most of his life in Bonaparte where he married Feb. 12, 1871, to Fannie C. West of Peaksville, Mo. Six children were born, three dying in infancy. Charles E. of Des Moines, William E. of Davenport, and Miss Grace Connor of Omaha, Neb., survive. The wife and mother died in 1878.

He served three years in the Civil war in Co. B 30th Iowa Inf. being in twenty-seven battles. He receive a sunstroke which afterward affected his health. He had been a sufferer for years but since March had failed very rapidly. He went to the soldiers home at Marshalltown in September to receive treatment and thought he was improving. Death came suddenly.

He was buried at the Soldiers Home Nov. 8 with full military honors. C. E. Corwin of Des Moines, W. E. Corwin of Davenport and M. A. Neiswanger of Bonaparte attended.
