William Edwin Groves

William Edwin Groves of Joliet, Ill., passed away October 6, at the age of 65 years. He is survived by his widow, three brothers, George and Robert Groves of Douds and C.N. Groves of Milton and three sisters, Mrs. Alice Gibson of Milton, Mrs. Ida Luke of Johnstown, Neb., and Mrs. Clyde McKee of Bloomfield. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, one sister and brother.

William Groves was born near Lebanon in Van Buren County and spent his early life there. When a young man, he joined the U.S. Navy and served for 34 years. He was a veteran of World War 1.

The Mason Lodge of Joliet, of which he was a member, conducted the funeral rites. Robert Groves, Mrs. Chan Gibson of Milton and Mrs. Kenneth Gardner of Bloomfield attended the funeral. Later the remains were brought to Bloomfield and then placed in the family lot in the Groves cemetery north of Milton.
