ESTHER M. STUMP

Esther M. Stump, daughter of J. Columbus and Anna Mallams Ferrel, was born January 20, 1897 near New London and departed this life the afternoon of Sunday, August 12, 1984 at Nelson Nursing Home in Fairfield, at the age of 87.

On November 21, 1917 she married Harold Stump at Ottumwa. They lived most of their married life near Douds. He died in April, 1981 and she moved to Fairfield shortly thereafter.

Surviving are two daughters, Wilma Loomis of Fairfield and Weltha Doud of Ottumwa. Also surviving are two grandchildren, five great-grandchild and three great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Erma Stump, Loveland, Colorado and Elsie Crawford and Elaine Bonnett, both of Fairfield; three brothers, Floyd Ferrel, Bonaparte, Lloyd Ferrel, Fairfield and Robert Ferrel, Mesa, Arizona.

Esther was a longtime member of Christ United Methodist Church at Douds.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 14, 1984 at 10 a.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds with Rev. Charles Kincaid officiating. Interment was in Mt. Moriah Cemetery north of Douds. A memorial was established for the Lung Association.
