Taken By Death

DOUDS, Ia. --- Thomas Gillmore HORNE, 75, well-known retired stock buyer, died at 5 a.m. Tuesday at a Mt. Pleasant hospital. He had been seriously ill for a month.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at the Pedrick funeral home at Douds in charge of the Rev. Harold Harryman assisted by the Rev. David Pease. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran cemetery.

HORNE was born Oct. 30, 1882, near Douds and spent his entire life in this community. He farmed in his early life and for 35 years was in the livestock buying business at Douds. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran church.

He was married Jan, 1, 1905, to Cora CHANNELL who survives along with four sons, Harold of Washington, D. C., Clair, St. Louis, Mo., Donald, Douds, and Thomas, Jr., of Patterson, Ia.; two daughters, Mrs. Florence RENEKER, Birmingham, and Mrs. Nellie FINNEY, Douds; 18 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Glen Horne, Fairfield, and three sisters, Mrs. Hattie RODIBAUGH, Libertyville, Mrs. Verna CRANE, Newton, and Mrs. Marie SHOTT, Centralia, Mo. A daughter preceded him in death.
