BIRMINGHAM ---- Mrs. Bessie F. HOOTMAN of Birmingham died this morning at Van Buren County Hospital, in Keosauqua where he had been a patient for five days. Prior to that she had resided at the Moore Nursing Home at Stockport.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m., at the Burch Funeral Home in Birmingham with the Rev. Ora Reep officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery near Douds.
Mrs. Hootman was born Feb. 7, 1877, in Van Buren County, the daughter of Emsley and Carrie GIBERSON CANADAY. She was married to Jacob D. HOOTMAN on Aug. 27, 1904. He preceded her in death on Sept. 20, 1962.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Mary LAUGHLIN of Douds, three sons, James HOOTMAN of Douds, Junior HOOTMAN of Floris and Hollis HOOTMAN of Agency, 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, one brother, Fred CANADAY of Eldon, three sisters, Mrs. Cecil MANNING of Ottumwa, Mrs. Ella POPEJOY of Pleasant Plain, Mrs. Gladys PENCIL of Fairfield.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, four brothers and five sisters.
